Progress in backend automation

Hey everyone!

We’re making big progress behind the scenes at Faculty Radar.

Our goal is simple: to get new academic positions to you as quickly as possible after they are published.

And the benefit for you is even simpler: less time searching university websites, fewer missed opportunities, and faster access to positions that match what you’re looking for. We want Faculty Radar to do the searching so you don’t have to.

Right now, finding, checking and posting new positions still involves quite a few manual steps. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been working hard to automate that process.

We’re building a system that combines AI agents, n8n automation and a Supabase database to search university websites, identify new positions, structure the information and eventually publish it automatically on Faculty Radar.

It’s slow work — and there have definitely been a few bumps along the way — but the pieces are starting to come together.

For the moment, we’re prioritizing this behind-the-scenes automation over adding lots of new features to the website. It may not be the most visible part of Faculty Radar, but we think it’s the most important. In the long run, automation is what will allow us to provide comprehensive and timely information without relying on hours of manual work.

Thanks for your patience while we build it.

If all goes well, over the next few weeks we hope to start moving toward automatic posting of new positions. That will mean new opportunities appearing on Faculty Radar faster — giving you more time to decide whether to apply and prepare a strong application.

More soon!
